Project 032
A single storey extension was completed on this existing 1960’s property to provide much needed additional ground floor living space and separate utility room. Although the existing conservatory provided all important floor space, the issue of over heating in summer and heat loss in winter was problematic. This was therefore disassembled to make way for the new extension. The extension was complete in timber frame, had a clad finish and utilised the existing conservatory footing as much as possible. This offered a more sustainable solution than traditional, and more heavy, cavity wall construction. It also resulted in a speeder construction period. Whilst the original open plan layout offered sociable living, it wasn’t necessarily suitable for family life which required some separation. The reinstatement of the separate lounge was therefore essential.
